Join me for a creative and hands-on day of jewellery making where you’ll design and create your very own gemstone ring. This workshop is a great second workshop if you've already joined one of my beginners workshop...or you're more than welcome to join us even if this is your first jewellery workshop, and you'll get plenty of guidance and support along the way.
 
Throughout the day, you’ll learn traditional silversmithing techniques, including how to:
 
* Measure, cut, and shape metal to form your ring
* Use a jeweler's saw
* Solder with a blowtorch 
* Add different textures or stamped letters to your ring band
* Make your own bezel and add a gemstone of your choice
 
In this workshop everyone can choose their own 8mm round cabochon gemstone from my collection of stones and we will unfortunately not be using your own stone.  Gemstone selections may include: Amethyst, Carnelian, Onyx, Jade, Rose Quartz, Citrine, Lapiz Lazuli...just to name a few! At the end of the day you’ll leave with a stunning gemstone ring that’s been designed and handcrafted entirely by you.
 
Your Workshop Includes
* 6 hours of tuition and demonstrations to make one gemstone ring
* Step by step instruction guide
* Sterling silver, Copper or Brass wire and sheet metal
* Solder, saw blades, sandpaper
* Selection of 8mm round cabochon gemstones to choose from 
* Full use of studio tools and equipment
 
Additional materials are available for purchase if you’d like to expand your design.
 
Lunch Break 
You are welcome to take a short break whenever you feel the need for it. Tea, coffee and a few light snacks will be available, but please bring your own lunch if you think the day will get too long without a proper meal.
 
The Studio
Workshops are held in my home-based studio in Feilding, Manawatū. The space is bright, well-ventilated, and comfortably accommodates up to 8 guests — perfect for small groups who want to learn, create, and connect. A small kitchenette is available for refreshments, and there’s plenty of free parking on site.
 
What to bring
Please wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes, no loose long sleeves or scarfs, and tie back long hair. This is for your own safety while we use the blowtorch to solder your pieces.
 
Whether you’re new to silversmithing or just love to create, this workshop is a relaxed and rewarding way to spend the day — and you’ll go home wearing your own handcrafted gemstone ring.
